Benicia State Park Recreation Area

Just a short drive out of town is the Benicia State Park Recreation Area...Across the Benicia Bridge left towards Vallejo and get off at the Columbus parkway exit crossing over the freeway to the left out to the park... This place is quite different than some of the walking trails that we have here in the Concord/Clayton areas ... Having  marsh lands and rocky shorelines with beautiful views of  the hills across the Carquinez straits..The trail takes you out along the water between the Benicia and  Carquinez bridges...Both bridges can be seen from  the point out on the trail...Occasionally you will see the train going by across the water over on the Crockett side... A Popular spot for dog walking, fishing, hiking ,bicycling or just enjoying the sites of the Benicia Coast line...This was a particularly popular spot for fishermen back when the Salmon weren't endangered but today I did see a few Anglers on the shore there as it is still a great spot for other types of fish as well as Sturgeon...
