The Geese @ Ellis Lake

Say what you want about the neighborhood,,,However as you can see from the picture that I took yesterday,,, The Geese at Ellis Lake look pretty darn healthy in spite of their environment...These Geese downtown here are looking good compared to some of the ones uptown over at Newhall ... There was a story last week on Claycord about a few of the Geese there that had a bad case of Angel Wing...

Hey Smokey,
Not sure how hold you are, but check out the history of Ellis Lake. Like before it was created. I met a lady who explained that she was on the original committe to save that area as undeveloped land, rather than letting the city sell it off to developers.

I'm not sure if it was a personal effort or an effort with an organization. Amazing story. I think this same woman I know was also involved in the founding of Save Mt. Diablo. I'll tell you later. Be curious if you know the answer. :)

At Ellis Lake, people are feeding bread to the ducks and geese every day.

In Newhall Park, only 1%(?) of the huge white geese (prob. Embden geese and hybrids)
have Angel Wing.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Embden_goose
(4 feet tall and 20-30 pounds)
(Very Loud!)

In Newhall Park, I didn't see any ducks (mallards) or Canada Geese with Angel Wing.
